Sumii Haleem, Silent Speaker, Acrylic on Canvas, 2012.
“As a child I have always been interested in drawing, painting, dancing and acting. In fact, it was my favourite pass time. However school and studies kept me from any form of art for a very long time and I had forgotten about it for years. My grandmother (who was more of a mother to me) passed away when I was 21 and I realised that the only thing that comforted me from the pain of losing her was painting. Ever since then I have never really stopped painting or drawing . I use acrylic on canvas, and I think they fall into the category of surrealism/ impressionism. I now put my art work up for sale as well as products such as T-shirts, phone covers, pillow cases etc on my Society6 website.”
